I chose the field of social work because of my desire to help people find happiness and meaning in their lives. As far back as I can remember I was curious about the concept of happiness. My passion lies in understanding how people find joy in their life and love within their relationships. I am a licensed clinical social worker with a decade of experience who will incorporate your unique skills and personal beliefs in the therapeutic process so that you can find and maintain physical, mental and social well-being. My approach to treatment is upbeat, compassionate, interactive, and solution-focused. I am trained in many evidence-based interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, problem solving treatment, and behavioral activation. I also incorporate concrete skill development and self-care strategies to help you feel better. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Pennsylvania and my Master's from Hunter College School of Social Work. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in mental health facilities, school-based programs, and private practice settings. As an avid believer in the connection between mind and body, I engage in physical movement each day as a form of self-care. My greatest joy comes from spending quality time with the ones I love.
"Tara is a very calm and knowledgeable therapist. She is patient and offers useful techniques to help with anxiety. The loss of my father and the covid pandemic resulted in feelings of anxiousness. Having never experienced anxiety" "Tara helped me through a very difficult time and I am thankful I had the opportunity to work with such a compassionate and caring professional" "I went to see Dr. Sam Von Reiche and Associates for severe anxiety and panic attacks, and it was probably one of the best decisions I made. I was introduced to Tara Sym, LCSW, who made me feel comfortable right away. Tara was compassionate and extremely helpful with her treatment methods, and was always there for me -even during off hours. I have a lot of gratitude towards Dr. Sam Von Reiche and Associates, especially Tara Sym" I have been through many therapists over the past 3 years trying to find someone that I felt was right for me and Tara has been the first person that I clicked with instantly. She is relatable, kind and compassionate. During our sessions I feel confident knowing I am not being judged and that she truly wants to help me and be there for me. She listens intently and always remembers little things you tell her which really makes you feel heard and comfortable continuing to open up to her and dig deeper. I feel so lucky to have found her!

"We saw Tara for some solution focused treatment regarding some issues we were having with our older son. We were concerned about some behaviors he was exhibiting.

Tara really helped talk us through everything we were dealing with and gave us tools to use to talk with him without getting frustrated and overly emotional. Tara was so calm and reassuring. It really put us at ease. We followed the way she told us to proceed and really saw an incredible difference. We both loved her style and have recommended her to many of our friends going through issues with their children".

"It was very refreshing to find someone to help us work through some trying times since kids don’t come with a rule book".

"Loved working with Tara and would recommend her a million times over".
