If you are reading this, you probably already know the devastating impact of depression.  You may feel sad or blue much of the time, or even worse, experience a kind of emotional numbness where nothing you used to care about seems like it means much anymore.  If left untreated, clinical depression can worsen and damage every aspect of your life.  It is very common to feel ashamed of depressed feelings, yet studies show that depression effects at least one in every five people at some point in their lives.

CBT Plus: It’s Not Just Cognitive Behavior Therapy

At Center for Transformation, we offer our own brand of cognitive-behavioral treatment for depression along with the real emotional support you need most right now.  It is precisely this kind of counseling which has been shown by research to be most effective for treating and preventing future episodes of clinical depression.

I refer to my proven treatment protocol as “CBT Plus” because it begins by identifying the habitually maladaptive and negative thoughts characteristic of depression, and then later helps you internalize the kind of positive thoughts that actually SERVE and INSPIRE you.  For example, you might frequently have the irrational thought, “My husband doesn’t respect me.  He never has, because I don’t have a real career and I’m a bad homemaker, too.”  From a more rational standpoint you would reflect:  “My husband respects a lot of things about me even though I don’t have a great career like he does.  And he admires me for being an awesome mother even though my housekeeping hasn’t recently been the best.”  Finally, the most inspiring and powerful thought would become, “The most important thing in my life is to feel good and that means respecting and loving myself.  When I do that I will naturally gain the respect of people around me, and that includes my husband.”  You will start by feeling better fast, and move on to live your best life ever as the result of my growth focused counseling program.
