Dr. Marie Gagliano Ph.D

Dr. Marie Gagliano, Ph.D. is a licensed professional counselor. and school psychologist. Her main goal as a therapist is to truly understand you and any challenge preventing you from living your best life. As a NCAA Division 1 scholarship athlete, Dr. Marie graduated at the top of her class in Fine Art and Education. She has earned Masters’ degrees in School Psychology and Counseling Psychology, as well as a Doctorate in Psychology.

With decades of experience, Dr. Marie is passionate about her work with adolescents, adults, and families. Her approach is genuine, holistic and positive. She seeks to understand what makes you YOU : where challenges arose on your path and how to move beyond them, to achieve your most important goals and most importantly, emotional well-being.  While her training is eclectic and flexible, she carefully creates an intentional, individual plan for each client based on their unique needs. Dr. Marie draws upon cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, person-centered, and psychodynamic therapy to address anxiety, depression, trauma, couples and relationship problems, parenting concerns, divorce and other life stressors.

Dr. Marie remembers getting “hooked” on psychology and the therapeutic process when she encountered the subject in her Postbaccalaureate studies. The combination of School and Counseling Psychology offered Dr. Marie exposure to a variety of therapeutic perspectives, treatment modalities and interventions. Her doctoral program gave her the opportunity to research theories of intelligence, growth mindset and identity.

For Dr. Marie, becoming a psychologist was a natural evolution of personal history, interests and professional experience. As an adopted child in a multigenerational home, there was much to overcome; most important was learning to recognize and experience a healthy emotional attachment and all that entails.  This was a huge driving force in both her professional aspirations and her life.

In her spare time, Dr. Marie enjoys cooking, baking, running, and painting when she isn’t carpooling her four children to and from their activities.
